The Challenge
There was no API marketplace to provide sample data or sell API requests, and no standard way for third-party developers to access, test and buy government datasets.
Our Approach
We designed the architecture and built on top of Mashape to let agencies sell data API requests to third parties, with authenticated SCRUD access to datasets. We also built scalable middleware for whole-of-government data sharing: a real-time Sensor Data Exchange feeding public and private sensor data through the API, supporting urban-planning use cases like crowd control, flood monitoring and vehicle congestion. Stack: AWS with S3, MongoDB, Elastic, Node.js, Docker and D3.js.
